The bottle you choose affects unit cost, shipping, retail shelf-appeal, and how customers perceive your fragrance. Here is the practical framework we use with brands sourcing through RangoPack.

1. Start with the size that matches your audience

Perfume bottle sizes typically range from 15ml to 120ml. Each size targets a different buying behavior:

  • 15–30ml — discovery sizes, travel sets, and gift bundles. Lower unit price drives impulse buys and trial.
  • 50ml — the global retail standard. Best balance of perceived value and shelf footprint for most fragrance brands.
  • 100–120ml — premium tier and loyal-customer repurchase. Higher margin, but heavier to ship and slower to turn over.

If you are launching a new brand, most of our clients start with a 50ml hero SKU plus a 30ml discovery size.

2. Shape is brand positioning, not decoration

Shape signals price tier before a customer even reads your label. A few patterns we see repeatedly:

  • Rectangular / flacon — classic, masculine, premium. Works well with heavy glass and metallic caps.
  • Cylindrical — modern, gender-neutral, easy to label. Production tooling is widely available, which keeps MOQ low.
  • Sculpted / custom mold — strongest brand differentiation, but adds tooling cost (typically USD 3,000–8,000) and 4–6 weeks lead time.

3. Weigh the trade-offs before you commit

Three factors quietly drive your landed cost:

  • Glass weight — heavy-base bottles feel premium but raise shipping cost by 20–40%. Important for DTC brands shipping internationally.
  • Neck size & sprayer compatibility — FEA 15 is the global standard. Non-standard necks lock you into a single pump supplier.
  • MOQ vs. customization — stock bottles start around 2,000 units. Full custom molds typically require 10,000+ units to be economical.

4. A quick decision checklist

  1. Which retail price tier are you targeting?
  2. How many SKUs do you need for launch?
  3. What is your forecast for the first 12 months?
  4. Are you shipping DTC, wholesale, or both?
  5. Do you need a custom mold, or will a stock shape work for v1?

Answering these five questions in order usually narrows the bottle choice to two or three options we can sample within 7–10 days.
